We have all heard so many differing bits and pieces of information about fat loss that I'm sure many of us are thoroughly confused about what is true and what is not. Everyday we hear about the next great weight loss diet plan that the “stars” are using or we constantly see all of the ads for the no fail dietary supplement that will help to melt the pounds off. I tell you what, I am sick of them.
It seems that drug companies and others are always trying to come up with the pill that we all can take and be thin. Well, if you look around it's pretty obvious that pill hasn't been invented yet. So I'd like to point out some of the myths concerning fat loss. People spend billions every year on “quick fixes” for fat loss. THERE AREN'T ANY QUICK FIXES.
Here are four of the myths about fat loss that continue to be perpetuated, even though the knowledge to refute the claims are readily available:
Starvation dieting: This method does NOT work and will prevent real fat loss from happening. In fact when in starvation mode, your body works very hard to hold onto the fat that you have, decreasing the number of calories you're burning, thus actually slowing down your metabolism. This includes all of those weird fad diets that are out there.
Taking Pills: You cannot lose weight by taking pills, most fat loss pills are little more than a form of "placebo", created to take your hard earned money.
Eating low fat and non fat foods. This will not automatically make you burn fat. I'm talking about prepackaged food here. Eating those “reduced fat” foods doesn't seem to do anything for me, how about you?
No exercise needed. If you want to lose fat and keep it off you must include some form of physical activity. Because to burn fat you need to burn more calories than you consume.
